Dr. Cheesborough founded Sanford Dermatology in 1980. He was born in Asheville and attended Duke University and Duke Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Dermatology Residency at North Carolina Memorial Hospital (now UNC Hospitals). He is married to Dr. Ellen Flanagan, an anesthesiologist at Duke Hospital in Durham. Dr. Cheesborough and Dr. Flanagan frequently travel for volunteer wildlife and medical projects. They have volunteered in Belize, Haiti, Peru, Nepal and several African countries. Dr. Cheesborough and his wife have four children, one precious granddaughter and live on a farm with lots of animals including fainting goats. Dr. Cheesborough enjoys gardening, fishing, golf and hunting. Dr. Cheesborough works in our Sanford and Pittsboro offices.
